The National Capital Area Gladney Family Association (NCA GFA) is open to all whose lives have been touched by adoption. The NCA GFA hosts numerous events and is comprised of families from all of Gladney’s programs. Families in ANY stage of adoption are welcome to join our vibrant community. The NCA GFA hosts social events,  educational programming, and support for families who are approved and waiting, those that have received referrals & those awaiting placement, for newly placed families, and for families whose children are home. The NCA GFA is proud to have services and activities for all.

Someone Who Understands Your Journey and Your Joy

Gladney Family Associations across the country provide parent-to-parent support and advice for adoptive families.  GFA events are a place to build community, strengthen connections, and just have fun.  We know the needs of families change, so Gladney and the GFAs host parent education events and activities for families with children from toddlers to teens. Here in the National Capital Area, we are proud to be part of this fantastic network. We hope that if you have not already done so, please join our Association as we share waiting for our babies, enjoying our children and tackling parenting issues together.

This year we will host social events for parents-in-waiting, and Gladney parents and children, as well as educational seminars on subjects that adoptive parents will find informative. As a NCA GFA member you will receive invitations to all of our events, as well as an area newsletter, membership directory, updates about Gladney and adoption issues, and connections with other adoptive parents. And of course your membership in the NCA GFA helps build a positive and dynamic adoption community for our families and all families built through adoption.

Just Like Me

One of the best things about being part of the GFA is the opportunity for your child to get to know other adopted children.  Many children enjoy the special camaraderie that comes from spending time with children adopted from the same program, so GFAs host a variety of events that bring together families from the same program, as well as mixers for families from all of Gladney's different programs.

Ambassadors for Life

Many Gladney families have told us they are Ambassadors for Life.  Adoption has had such a life changing impact for them that they want to share their journey and the joys of adoption with others through GFA events and activities, but also by promoting domestic and international adoption in their communities.  Many families also participate in fundraising events that help Gladney fulfill its mission of Creating Bright Futures Around the World. The National Capital Are is proud to support children around the world through our fundraising efforts.  We have two annual events: the Winter Princess Ball Daddy-Daughter Dance, and Sips & Dips Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Fundraiser.
